Group Diet and Nutrition Counseling

Group diet counseling can be a great option for several people who share a common interest or goal (eg, book club, neighbors, athletic team). It is also less costly than individual nutrition counseling.

Workshops for Sports Teams

For athletic teams, Cornell Health and Nutrition prepares workshops on eating for high performance and energy that are tailored to the sport and the age group’s specific needs. By working with a professional group nutrition and health counselor, athletes are able to improve their performance and their overall health.

Group Coaching Sessions

For other groups, the group nutrition program works exactly like the individual program. People form their own groups and ask a group nutrition and health counselor from Cornell Health and Nutrition to lead monthly or bi-weekly meetings. At these meetings, we explore concerns that are relevant to the group and discover the tools you need for a lifetime of balance. There is time to discuss everyone’s progress and questions.

In group diet counseling, you will:

  • Set and accomplish goals
  • Explore new foods
  • Understand and reduce cravings
  • Increase energy
  • Feel better in your body
  • Improve personal relationships

Group nutrition programs may differ due to customization, but most include:

  • Twelve 1-hour sessions
  • Cost-free participation in other CH&N workshops and web seminars
  • E-mail support between sessions
  • Books, CDs, handouts and other materials
  • Food samples and self-care products
  • A monthly newsletter
  • Access to my lending library of health and wellness books
